Media Girls Come to Chicago

By Amber N. Anderson

According to Women’s Media Center, 38% of women are in the field of media. Women’s Media Center is a non-profit organization with the mission to raise the visibility, viability and decision-making power of women and girls in media and, thereby, ensuring that their stories get told and their voices are heard.

This past weekend at Salon Lokei located at 2158 W 18th Pl. , the Blogging Beauties Network hosted Media Girls on Tour, with the goal of bringing women in media together. The Blogging Beauties Network is an interactive hub, community, and platform created to enhance the networking experience amongst women in media and fellow content creators.

The Media Girls tour will be stopping in five cities, Chicago is the first then on to New York, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Dallas. Featuring local vendors and some of the media's most successful women from Candace Jordan, writer at the Chicago Tribune to Samantha Callender, digital beauty and hair writer for Essence Magazine.

These women all came together to have a candid conversation about their experience in the field of media from their success stories to their failures.

Every one of them agreed that the key to being a successful woman in media is by staying true to yourself and do not ever compromise who you are for anyone.

Media Girls On Tour is an extremely inspiring and powerful event for women in media to be able to network and learn from each other.

The Blogging Beauties Network is on a mission to increase the percentage of women in media by bringing women together and creating outlets for them to accomplish their goals to reach the next level in their career.

If you are interested in going into the media field, this is a highly recommended event. To stay updated and purchase tickets for Blogging Beauties Network’s, Media Girls on Tour follow them on all social media platforms @bloggingebeauties.
