Kenwood’s Vanity Modeling Troupe Hosting Tryouts for 2019 Fashion Show

By Amber N. Anderson

Next week, Kenwood students will be preparing to try out for the school’s premiere modeling troupe ‘Vanity Modeling’. Students will be showing off their best runway walk and outfits with the hopes of being able to be featured in Vanity’s 2019 fashion show.

Tryouts will be taking place on December 12th & 13th from 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm in the Kenwood Academy Lunchroom. Models will only be required to participate in tryouts for one day. Girls are required to wear heels and boys are required to wear hard-bottom gym shoes. Models are encouraged to come in their best outfit and with a positive attitude.

This year Vanity modeling will be run by junior Kiara Moore and senior Jada Davis. The two have previously modeled with the troupe in recent years and were featured in the Black Women’s Expo Fashion show last year with the troupe.

Kiara Moore, co-captain of the modeling troupe is excited to meet all the models and wants them to know that everyone is welcomed to audition.

“We are looking forward to seeing the diversity in grades and people who try-out. The Vanity Modeling troupe would love to have different people that have different aspirations. Everyone is welcomed and we don’t discriminate against anyone,” says Moore.

Moore encourages everyone to simply be themselves when trying out, Vanity is looking for originality and personality.

“My best advice for models is to come as yourself. Don’t try to replicate what you have seen someone else does. We are looking for originality and personality, be your true self and that will land you a spot,”  says Moore.

Being apart of Vanity Modeling will give students the opportunity to be pushed to their highest potential, break out of their shell, and provide them with new experiences.
